Alocasia Chaii- Rare, Grown from SEED (not corm)
Treat yo’self to something truly unique: a rare species of Alocasia, Alocasia chaii, grown from seed (not corm) from an Alocasia breeder (not from tissue culture)!
Grower’s choice- but I will choose the prettiest one with one with the most leaves and the most rounded and symmetrical leaves for you!
SECOND AND THIRD PICS ARE THE MOTHER PLANT!
These Alocasia chaii were grown from from my robust mother plant that I have owned for 6 years. She was pollinated by an insect in one of my grow tents this year once again when she had an abundance of flowers at the same time and made berries.
These are not imported and therefore are well established plants with less risk of stress!
CURRENT CONDITIONS: Young plants are currently growing in aroid mix inside of a prop box at 100% humidity and I recommend you keep at 100% humidity in a clear container upon arrival for a couple weeks and water only when substrate is almost dry. Slowly acclimate to lower humidity levels.
GROWING TIPS: this species of Alocasia is very easy to keep happy as long as you do two things
Keep in high humidity, over 65%
Grow it in moist sphagnum moss (change moss every 8-12 months to keep pH level up) or, as I would recommend, grow it semi-hydroponically (ie. in pon)
SHIPPING OPTIONS:
- All Anthuriums and Alocasias will ship UPS 2 day because this is the safest shipping option for plants which are delicate and highly prone to heat and cold damage due to postal delays (which sadly occur more often than you would like to think when using slower mail services such as USPS Priority).
- LOCAL PICKUP: Local pickup in Oak Park, IL available. First purchase the item from me so it doesn't sell out, then message me to arrange pickup at my home office. I will refund you for shipping when you pick it up!
-US SHIPPING DAYS: I ship Monday and Tuesday from right outside Chicago (and Wed and Sat on rare occasions).
